This morning before school we asked Seth what he wanted to do this weekend, to which he replied 'Make Christmas decorations and Christmas things', which if you have read the blog before you will know that we would all jump at the chance for a bit of craft. I feel a bit bad but i didnt think about it again until i picked him up from school. I know 'naughty daddy' but DIY, general cleaning and of course playing with Opeie has taken up my day.
When we got home the first thing Mrs M said when we walked through the door (after giving Seth a squeeze) was "shall we make a Christmas wreath out of comic books?". Well instantly i was hooked on the idea. Mrs M told me her plans and we got going.
I started by cutting a large ring out of cardboard...
Mrs M cut lots of strips of comic book and me and seth curled the paper against metal rulers and then Mrs M started to stick the curled paper to the ring using double sided tape...
The wreath started to look great pretty quickly and the finished thing only took us about an hour to make, so it was a great craft idea that took just enough time for Seth not to get bored. Sadly Opeie wasn't interested in joining in with the fun and was happy flicking through the remainder of the Spider-man comic.
We were all really impressed with the finished result and i hung it up straight away for pictures...
I wanted to make a bow for the bottom of the wreath (spider-man themed of course) but the one i made looked terrible so i had an idea to make some holly and use little cut out Spider-man heads for berries. It ended up looking great and was a great finishing touch to our craft session.
As i said at the beginning of the post, Seth wants a 'Christmas craft weekend' so keep reading to see what else we come up with this weekend. We love a good craft session and this time of year is a great excuse for it.
