After the disappointing 'There's no pumpkins this year' news we were all feeling a little gloomy. Thank fully we still had a fun day with the boys and this time Mrs M would like to fill you all in on the days events so enjoy...
Seth
& I have always loved picking and hunting for conkers, ever since
he could walk we would go and collect leaves and twigs to paint and
create with. I remember the first time we collected conkers together
when he was 2.... it was a few weeks after I started Uni and right
outside the Uni there was a row of 8 conker trees..... so we filled a
carrier bag full! I remember him sitting at his little charity shop
oak 50s round table playing with them and sorting them into size order. (
So adorable!)
Last year we went conker hunting a week before my birthday, and it was HOT! I wore a summer dress and flip flops, so it must have been warm....
Today we had planned to go and pick a Pumpkin at our local PYO fruit farm, as I wasn't working , and have been working like crazy lately on a project. However, when I called the farm, it was closed due to all the awful weather we've had this Summer :(
The boys said they didn't mind staying in making Lego creations, but whilst I was cleaning up from Lunch I was thinking of what we could do... and I suddenly realised!!! We'd not been conker hunting!? - Crazy! Autumn is beautiful and my favourite time of year!
So, I walked into Seth's room and asked if they wanted to go conker picking? Seth put down his Lego and exclaimed... " Quick! Where are my shoes??"
I think he was happy with my idea. Off we hopped down to Ironbridge.... but it wasn't going to be the bountiest of hunts. There were hardly any conkers to be found... with Seth getting a bit sad due to not being able to 'fill his bucket to the top' ...
.... I suggested we try the row of trees that were next to our old Uni.... the boys we're sure that there would be many, so I told Seth if there wasn't enough to fill a bucket, I'D EAT A LEGO MAN!!!
Luckily enough for my insides there was enough to fill the bucket over and over.... and a little bit more! Seth was SO excited, squealing every time he saw a conker in the grass.....
They were both in their elements collecting the shiny little conkers! We also spotted a couple of squirrels, which to be fair are just 'rats in cuter outfits'-Carrie Bradshaw. But the boys were still happy to see them! :o)
After a hour or so, the boys cheeks started to get a little rosey from the cold despite each having 5 layers on! So off we trotted home with a boot full of conkers, but we have made a note to go conker exploring a few weeks earlier next year! ( Not that I'm wishing the year away, I want to slow it down....... I want my boys to be small forever! Love you boys millions and billions! Love Moma xxxxxx
Enjoy the photos!
